i know people that do 90percent water changes every 3 days and they have no problems at all like said before it just depends on bioload,filter etc......

+1, I've found that even with my lack of experience, my pleco seems less affected by 2 25% water changes than 1 50% water change.
I have a question, what would be some reasons you shouldn't do a water change once a week?

Infusion of minerals is another benefit, your water will become nutrient deficient if you don't change it. I've seen water changes produce healthier happier more attractive fish. There is allot of different reasons for this but suffice it to say in most cases fish would be happy to receive a 30 percent change every day if you could manage it.
doing 1 60% waterchange removes more nitrate... than 2 30% changes. after 1 30 you add water so the next time you do a 30 the water is deluted. i think i said that right lol.
Famous discus breeder Jack Waitley has 100% of his brreder tanks water changed daily automatically. With water changes the more the merrier.
Do you do 90%? I can see it with hardy fish like cats and some older silver Aros and maybe piranhas in small tanks that need a extreamly good cleaning, but it might not be the best thing for fragile fish like payaras and rays. and to do a 90% water chinge I thing you would need a really gunked up filter with a sh*t ton of bacteria in it
ok well if its working for you and your fish are ok then keep it up. Thats just my word for it, everytank is different. I do 20 to 30 every 2 to 3xs aweek and my fish seem to be ok so thats all that matters
