The thing is Azul and Kelberi It's not luck some have Beautiful fish It's dedication :headbang2..They will become and stay colorful IF you take care of them and maintain them correctly $100 to $200 is not exeptionally high for a fish and personally i wish the price would stay that way there are not YAHOOOOOS !!!!! getting these Beautiful fish then systematicley destroy a fish with all kinds of potential ..If your not willing to pay $$$$ then your probly not willing to do the work these fish need and deserve!!!!!! I'm cheap I buy whatever bass fits the budget.

The wholesalers are selling theses CB cichla cheap but the middle man is jacking up the price big time.. You need one person to start selling them less expensive for a reasonable amount of time and it will bring the prices down ( this seller needs a large amount of stock to shut out the business of others).. If everyone keeps the prices high, they will never drop.
It's simple economics my friends.

When importers didn't know the true value of bahias in the UK, they were going for $100. They now go for $200. IMO, you'll never be able to bring the price below $100, it just wouldn't leave any profit margin for the sellers.

^this, they buy them cheap and sell them for double/tripple the price they pay for the fish.

I have yet to come across someone delusional enough to think that Hyundai and Kia look are or are better than BMW but back to the topic,I'm looking forward to seeing other members chime in with their opinions on the subject.
Ask those people who own a Hyundai or Kia..

As long as people are willing to pay a price for any item (fish, car ,house) it will still sell high when people lose Interest in paying that much for something the price will come down

Its not the supply that is keeping the price high, its the cost of actually getting them to the US. Both species are native to brazil and they are very strict on wild collecting certain fish, peacock bass being one of them. As for Bahias which are captive bred, due to peacock bass not being an easy genus of cichlids to breed, the price is still relatively high. Also despite what some think, kelberis and azuls are both very good looking bass.
