At whities pets in Fresno they had a tank full of "true red terrors" just this may and weren't more than ten bucks a piece

IDK about that, though I havent been to any LFS in like 2 months.

If I remember correctly they were $12.98 each

I trust your knowledge more tydus, are you sure they were Festaes?

I haven't seen any Mayans labeled as Red Terrors around Detroit for years.
Festae are very common around here though.
I just picked up 5 for $10 in April. All were 2"-2.5"

100% Festae. They were the real deal. I would've picked some up if I had the space. I talked with one of the workers and they said their festae source was coming from Socal. I was pretty amazed how they actually got in true festaes and weren't mislabeled. They were all gone last time I was at Whities.

I guess it's all about where you live, and what sources you have, because here, both Festae, and Mayans are not common.

I would say about the same as far as rare goes in the U.S. Most people like festae over Mayan because of the colors. I like both, and I would have a hard time picking one over the other.

Festae are rare here in New York City. You get a lot of mayans mislabeled as Red Terrors. However, on occasion, Chinese LFS seem to be able to get their hands on them. Their red, orange, and yellow coloring seems very popular with the Asian culture. The prices are a bit high though (imo). 35 dollars for 3-4 inches is the lowest I've seen.
