I did a super large water change a couple of days ago.. removed all my black sand and plants. going bare bottom for now. don't know why my tat does this, but the tip of his caudal whitens out every once in a while. very interesting.

a little off topic but I'd thought I'd share a few other photos :)

my cousin and I went snakehead fishing @ smallwood state park the other day. ran into the park ranger there. he let us fish on the fishing-forbidden bridge. the BEST view in the park... u can see them right underneath you! we ran the lure passed the fry right in front of the two parents, fast and slow retrieves and small twitches, but no luck. seems i can't catch a snakehead if my life depended on it lol

Interesting how the ranger allowed you all to fish from the forbidden bridge.

i thought the ranger was kidding when he told me to give it a shot. I won't say who it was, but i was told "well, we're supposed to be getting rid of them anyways..."

it'd be my pleasure :D

How come they dont get rid of those fry?

it's pretty hard to wipe out the whole population. i'd imagine it'd be harder to keep track of every little batch of newborn snakeheads

I'm surprised that the parents wouldn't attack the lure if you dropped it into the middle of the fry.

me too, heard that was the best way to catch them

awesome, sucks you didn't catch any.

your RTP looks great. whats the fish behind it?

and just out of curiosity, could you snag the snakehead? up here in ohio, i was talking to a park ranger and he said if i run into an invasive species like carp, i need to through a snatch hook, snag it, cut its head off, and through the body back in the water.

thanks! that's a pink tail chalceus.

i'm not familiar with a snatch hook set up... care to explain? and why would you throw the body back in the water? snakehead meat is supposed to be one of the best tasting fish when fried up :)
