Uaru fernandezyepezi - round 2

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They're looking much perkier.

Does protocol for treating IPs vary, between different vendors who sell wc fish?
I've been wondering about that. Do they treat the tougher species, but not the fragile ones? none at all- or does that depend on which vendors/importers.
?

It probably varies among different vendors, exporters, and for specific fish or batches. Just guessing though.

6 week update... "the 8" are going strong. Eating very well and grew quite a bit. Still the same diet - romaine in the morning and worms for dinner.

Awesome progress! Good to see the 8 are doing well.

Awesome Pete!! Great job!

Thanks guys :) Some follow-up treatment in the next few days but otherwise I think the acclimation is done. Not going to move them though, or add anything to the tank, lol.

They look a lot better, Peter! Question: do they have red eyes? I can't tell from the video.

Thanks! I'll have to get back to you on the eye color question tonight, lol.

On a side note - I added an Anubias to see if they'd eat it, since eventually they will be moved to one of the bigger tanks with lots of Anubias. Well, they left it alone for a few days but this morning the whole plant was pretty much gone... :( Goats!

Excellent, Peter!! It looks like round 2 is going very well. The Uaru look much bigger and stronger in the update video. All of your treatments and maintenance schedules have done their work. I'm glad that you found the proper balance for these guys. Even the Rams are still hanging around;). Keep up the magic. Everything looks great!

Very cool fish. I kept my pair in a 135 with no filter. The water was dead calm. I did a 50% water change every couple of days. gave them romain let and frozen food. Kept the PM below 6.0. They spawned at about 7". Removed about 20 fry after a couple of days. I think I removed them 2 early and lost them Male killed them female about a week later. I used a very dark tak only had a 10 gl light on it. Temp was 86. They turn black and white when they spawn. Cool little fish. Good luck

Thanks for the kind words Al. Hope I won't mess up anything from now on. The GBRs and cardinals are pretty happy to enjoy the water and food the pandas get, lol.

Thanks for the info Mack! I covered the eheim and UV returns to slow down the current, and all the water movement is limited to the left half of the tank. Wish I had done it sooner though - I think I had too much water movement in the beginning and they were stressed. Otherwise my water, temp and lighting are pretty close to yours.

Did you pass the male to Ken after he killed the female? If so, JD has him now. Or I may have gotten it confused with David's fish.

That is the same male. I have him in my tank at work.

They look to be really coming around Peter. Hopefully they continue to do well for you. It would be awesome to see some F1's avialable.
