Is my tank over crowded? / how bad is it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
First off welcome to MFK.

Your pics are now showing up for me.

You've gotten some good advice thus far, and you're going to have to make some tough decisions. I would start by getting rid of the pleco, and if you have no immediate plans on upgrading in tank size then you need to decide what is best suited (long term) for a 75 gallon tank. As previously stated, overfiltration doesn't compensate for overcrowding, and some of these fish will never reach their full potential in crowded conditions, which I suspect is why your knife fish hasn't grown in 2 years.

Good luck.

Can you guys see the pics now?

For one, thanks for the backup guys. we need to help the new members, not criticize them. Secondly I agree your tank is way to small for the amount of fish and you should be upgrading to a minimum 150g or get rid of the large stock that aren't your favorites. That's a polypterus(birchir) and not a rope fish btw.

And I also agree you should get rid of the pleco as they create more refuse than they remove, also noting that it's a common pleco which get very large, way to large for a 75 with that kind of stockage.

Goodluck

Looks fine to to me

This coming from the same person that recently posted the following......

I only do a water change every 4 months and my fish are happy

And it is exactly for this reason that some people have a low tolerance level on this site for newish members that often do come across as trolls. It's often difficult to differentiate between an actual troll, and someone who's simply uninformed and/or inexperienced, and talking out of their ass.

Good pics.

Just WOW.
I am totally amazed that those particular fish have coexisted in 75G, and don't even have torn fins!
You've defied all the odds so far.

+1 about making decisions about your fish.
Or get a lot more tank(s).
