Wow, i did not expect this much response/hate....

All the fish were sleeping when i first started to take pictures. but I most woke up by the time i was finished(although some were hiding/sleeping behind the rocks the whole time). I will post some more tomorrow after feeding time.

And I change half the water about twice a month

I have noticed that too... I have definatly asked my share of dumb questions when I first started and I do not recall anyone dismissing my thread as a troll thread. Sometimes it's neccesary and sometimes it's not. I think we should remember that people do come here looking for help.

I have a 75 gallon cichlid tank and I'm pretty sure i have way too many fish. I have the following....

1) 10" midas cichlid
2) 5"+8" jack dempsys (they had fry on a few occasions last year)
3) 5" red devil
4) 4" green terror
5) 7" severum
6) 4' flower horn
7) 3" Hypsophrys nicaraguensis
8) 4" sengal bichir
9) 12" pleco
10) 6" pleco
11) 5" knife fish (has not grown at all over the past two year)
12) 5" green texas
13) 2" red texas???

All the fish seem very healthy, other then a few tattered fins or missing scales every now and then.

I have plenty of hiding spaces, and have more than enough filtration (I have three filters being used in the tank, one is rated for 50gallons, one for 75, and one for 100gallons).

I know i need to get rid of some of these fish, but how many is the question.
I really like all the fish and am dreading giving many away, but I also want the fish in my tank to be healthy and happy. Also it would be nice if they grew a bit quicker too :)

Thanks for any help!

That being said your tank is grossly overstocked. They won't grow very quick in such crowded conditions. I would start by getting rid of the red devil, midas, and flowerhorn. Full grown they will take the whole tank to themselves. What kind of pleco's do you have? If they are commons which they probably are you need to get rid of them too for they will get waaaay too big for this tank. And I am guessing the reason why the knife hasn't grown is because of poor water quality. Overfilteration doesn't compensate for overstocking and I seriously doubt your tank is overfiltered enough to handle all these fish. The truth of the matter is your fish should not have to suffer because you want to keep them in cramped conditions.

Also you should start doing ATLEAST 50% water changes every week. That's pretty much standard when keeping cichlids no matter which type you keep.

+1 its ridiculous, everyone thinks their a pro cuz they've been on here for a month, but the bad thing is its affecting the new members that are trying to get help, I said it once ill say it again, if you don't have anything positive or productive to add then don't bother posting! Its a waste of the op time, the readers time and the mods time.

Dont bring ur BS here, there are a million forums out there for you.

Op: try and get a bigger tank or even 2 75's, CL occasionally has very good deals for full setups
