What do you do with your fish when you get bored with them?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
there are alot of good points being mentioned here. everyone has rehomed a fish at 1 time or another. the cause either being boredom, aggression, something has come up and you no longer can provide propper care.... stuff happens. i would just like to see a lil more research done in the beginning of owning a fish before running out and grabbing 1. example... oooh that dovii looks kool im getting one and putting it in my 30 gallon tall. no research no nothing and now your inbetween a rock and a hardplace. rehoming time... that red tex looks beautifull, ill put it in with my mollies and guppies.... uh oh rehoming time... or hey that fish .... looks kinda kool. i wouldnt mind having that fish for a while. a while?! now im not mr save a pet with sarah whats her face singin in the back ground but fish arent like a poster on your wall. we can put a lil extra thought into choosing our fish. most of you mfkers take very good care of your fish. i like that.

I don't rehome anything unless it is due to aggression or oversized for the tanks I have. I know cichlids are not peaceful creatures, but sometimes it is a choice between having nice looking fish, or battered beaten fish hiding in a corner. I try to keep mine for life. I feel that I am responsible for taking care of them, as much as I am responsible for my dogs and cats. BTW, sick but funny picture with the kid!

I don't. As long as you feed and clean tanks fish are easy enough to care for. I have spent months barely looking at my fish except to feed and clean before when I've lost interest temporarily. It's really unnecessary to rehome most species. Well for my tank anyway, everything I have is fairly common honestly except my Notopterus who may outgrow my tank and will be rehomed if that happens. I also had to rehome a gourami because it was terrorizing everything but otherwise I don't rehome.
