After 2 month on hikari sticks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I came home one day and found the heater knocked out of place. I put it back in its original place and noticed that my aro's left eye was slightly looking down. The right eye is fine. Treating it now, hope all goes well.

what's the best way to treat DE? my silver aro has also developed DE on his right eye not sure how he got it.

I really don't know. But I covered the entire tank with paper, leaving only the top. I've done it before with my other silver aro that I sold. It did work, but I'm not so sure about it working this time. It will take some time before I notice any improvements. So at the moment, I'm just continuing to feed it floating sticks and doing regular water changes.
I love silver aros but DE really kills it for me. It just doesn't look natural.

sounds like a good way to treat DE but my tank is just way too big to cover up. i read on other forums to try a blinking light above the tank so i have that going on, took the red blinker light off my mountain bike ;p i think the DE on my guy may not be treatable anymore & i think i have too many bottom dwellers & he likes to keep an eye on them. he is my first aro, so maybe when i get another i'll keep him alone. cheers & happy fish keeping!

How big is your aro now?

that's fast!

yeah, i read that they grow pretty fast & slow down once they get to around 20-24". i'm pretty sure that when mine gets that big he will make my 225gal tank look like a 55gal & i'll have to take out some of the rock decors to make more room. here's a snap shot of him, the tape measure is opened to 18".
