Spectrum medium, I think I'll have to go pick up a little container of the smallest kind and soak them. because even when they are soaked I doubt he'd be able to suck them in.

This is what I use. I mix em. I know its not top dollar but it seems to work fine. I also feed frozen and worms as a treat. My little guy can get these pellets down okay.

So I tried soaking them but they are too big to suck in even before I soak them so I think if I get the smallest size and soak them they will be big enough because they absorb a lot of water.


Also, I was wondering, are the osi bp food like junk food for parrots? I bought them thinking they were good but you here everybody talking about the gimmicky junk flowerhorn food.

1mm is very very small, I wouldn't feed it unless to fry. White size NLS are you feeding? If you are gonna get other food I would recommend Hikari Gold mini pellets, its what I always fed but am now switching to NLS.
 
All my parrots get the medium size pellets....I have two with the deformed mouth you are talking about and they have never had any problems eating. To fatten him up...just feed a good variety, bloodworms, pellets (I use Hikari and NLS). Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.
