Go troll somewhere else...you dont have any cichla.

Nice pinima!

You kidding me? You need to own a type of fish to post about it, or you're a troll? Talk about elitist...

I dont think it takes an expert to tell that his fish is in distress if it rides the glass for hours at a time and it actually develops sores from it? Many fish do this when stressed, especially in bare tanks. I don't think cichla do this for different reasons that only a cichla keeper would know why, and if so, why is it doing it then oh great cichla keeper?

This forum must be full of trolls if being a troll is posting something regarding a fish that you don't personally own... Hypocrite

actually i don't think that he is stressed, more of hyper in my opinion. alot of cichlas may develop thick lower lip tips because of the constant bumping or sliding from the glass in the aquarium. pbass are really strong swimmers and get startled easily so cases like these may happen... in the case of my fish, he's not just sliding up and down the glass, he also opens his mouth wide like he's trying to eat something outside the tank. this is one trait im sure all cichla collectors know about. he is also riding the air bubbles to the surface alot, and when he reaches the surface, he goes down again to the same spot to be lifted up. looks more playful than stressed out. and lastly pbass owners know when their fish are stressed they become really pale. sometimes you wont even see the markings. well in this case, markings were there and they're dark like what's shown in the pic. Last but not least, it isn't a bare tank. the tank actually has a big bush of tall java ferns and a 2 foot long driftwood. today my fish is not that hyper anymore, took his little air bubbles out. hehe so anyway, thanks for the honest opinion and the help Jesse/Probass, but i regret that you do not have CR.E.A.M. in you, and coz of that you will never understand us cichla mfkers! :headbang2

Who knew keeping pet fish could be taken so serious by some people... The eliteness is hilarious

You have fun with your glass pacing fish, that, surprise, most fish (not just cichla) will do when bored, stressed, threatened etc. Puffers for example, will pace endlessly if not stimulated due to lack of entertainment or space restriction etc

Funny you forgot to read that the fish is NEW to the tank. New wild cichla in a tank would do this for a while. so...why would you add more hiding places again?

Exactly? Which is causing the fish to be stressed? My whole point was that the fish is not "playing" in the bubbles, SOMETHING is causing the fish stress; boredom, open tank, threatened, new to the tank, water quality, tank mates, it could be anything, but it is not "normal play"

All new fish does this, especially cichla. Nothing new to a seasoned cichla keeper.

Mine does to and they are 15-18" and your point being what? Babies and adults does this. If you kept cichla you would have known this.

No, not just all cichla do it, most fish do it at some point actually, which is normal. All I've been trying to say is that it is unhealthy for a fish of any kind to wear its lips raw from rubbing against the glass...

By the way, what's with the elitist atitude when it comes to owning cichla? Why do you actually feel that your fish are better then any one else's?
