My 180g build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I liked the tape over the acrylic idea for drilling the holes. You can see where I messed up measuring the left side and had to adjust over it. That tape give some flexibility to start over easy. Did you get any close up pics of the sump yet?

I'm confused. So the bottom of the tank is drilled where the overflow box is.So why drill the back and use two upturned intakes? Are you going to seal the holes on the bottom?Sorry for the noobish question.I'm trying to understand all this to get ideas for my 100 and 150 gallon tanks.

Not yet, but I will soon! ;-)

Those holes were there we I bought the tank. They were a bit small so we decided to just plug them up to use the open channel/full siphon design.

Noticing that these EcoPlus 1267 might not be pressure rated. At 1267 GPH raw each, we figured that after head height, we'd still be around 2000 GPH. My goal as 2200-2500 GPH. With this setup, I wasn't getting the flow that I wanted.

These pumps seem to be good, but they arent pressure rated, we tested connecting one pump to one hose without any elbow bends. Boom, we got more flow. Even better, we took out the "Y" adapter in the Locline and Boom, more pressure.

So, we left the pumps connected to routed soft plumbing and when with a single Locline nozzle from each pump. Figure that we are getting around 1600 GPH total now. I'll leave it like this as its plenty needed for the tank and stock.

Justin and I will be doing some tests with the Danner (pressure rated) Mag 18's and I'll decided from there with Danner's I'll go with.

Either way, I'll leave it how it is now, as its probably the equivalent to (2) FX5's but with more media. I'll get some FTS shots later today with everything stocked and scaped.

Pretty darn impressive! Much has been done since the last time at your place. Tank was bare (dirty) and the sump (dirty dirty... lol). The pics for both appears real clean, i.e. sum crimsonfrog elbow grease. Great job!

I came across some metal gussets for your stand. Let me know if you want them for each corner as additional reinforcement. Come pick them up.
