With out the "the power brick" the whole system will not work. The simplest way to check if there is power going through the brick is to use a multimeter to check current. Or ask a friend to borrow a power brick and see if that is really the problem. If it still isn't working, then the eternals are jacked up.

The internals of the Xbox. Always trouble shoot from power source to the component. If you get a working brick, then you know the brick isn't the problem.

take that xbox, throw it in the trash, take the $300 you would've spent and buy a ps3

take it to someone. you'll pay a fee to have it looked at, but you're going to be spending money buying stuff with no idea if it will fix it or not. that or do a search for computer troubleshooting website and start learning.

The only thing that i'm worried about is my xbox live account. I've wasted so much time highering my COD KD and such! Is there a way I can recover it from a new xbox?
