Not sure where I went wrong here, but my tank seems to be cycling again. After my last water change, the water has gone really cloudy.

I am unsure how to cure this and how dangerous it will be for the fish in the tank.

180 gallon:

2 x silver 11" Aro's
8" Peacock Bass
2 x Motoro Sting Rays 6" male / female wild caught pair
7" tinfoil barb.

help!

My lighting situation did change around this time as well. Let me explain

I have a 8 bulb lighting system. All T8 lights.

I USED to use,

2 Atinic
2 10k
2 50/50
2 8000

The 2 8k's blew out so, I replaced them with a pair of atinics. Would the atinic lighting caused the cloudy green water?

Either way, I have turned all lights off, and left the tank alone.

Hard to tell anything without water parameters! Cloudy water can be a bb bloom, algae bloom or ammonia bloom. How long has it been set up? Hope to god its cycled with that kind of stock, u have a huge bioload! do u have bio media?

Feed less, do wc frequently

Bb bloom more bio media is needed to house the colonies is my guess. Fill a canister up with either ceramic bio or w/e Chen stars are good.

But yes obviously test, that's a lot of $$$ in there, so 30$ for A API FRESHWATER MASTER TEST KIT is priceless! Order online at amazon.com

First off your only going to have more problems with a heavy heavy stock like that. I would get a bigger filter like an fx5 to help with the bioload. next thing would be to buy a bigger tank

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...8458-REVIEW-Fluval-FX5-vs-Eheim-Pro3-compared

"FLOW RATE
... The Fluval showed a flowrate of 1991 litres per hour when full of media and connected which is about 57% of its rated pump capacity of 3500 l/ph but the Eheim did even better giving 1207 litres per hour out of its possible 1700 l/ph for a amazing 71% !
This still gives the Fluval a nearly 800 litres per hour flowrate advantage when used in real life situations but filtration is more then flow alone its also about capacity... "

"BIOLOGICAL FILTRATION
The most important function of a filter is its biological filtration capacity and here is the best test for these filters. The clear winner here was the Eheim taking only 11 days to cycle the 700 litres of water from 4ppm of ammonia to Nitrate only vs the FX5's 13 days. It just shows that that extra 6 litres of bio media in the Eheim more then makes up for the 800 litres per hour flow advantage the Fluval has. a 2 day difference is quite significant and its more then we expected..."

"CONCLUSION A matter of price
While the Eheim is the clear winner in the performance stakes the decision is not clear cut. The Eheim is the better biological performer and has a better % flowrate when full. Its a lot quieter and holds a lot more media and uses less power then the Fluval. So its a no brainer to the Eheim on most areas right? Well no ... The Fluval still does a excellent job its a bit easier to set up and it does a slightly better job at mechanical filtration and and here is the big kicker .... IT IS ABOUT HALF THE PRICE OF THE EHEIM So while the Eheim is clearly the better filter here I cannot honestly say its twice as good as the Fluval... issues of reliability and longevity not withstanding. If moneys not a issue its got to be the Eheim but the Fluval is a very good filter and its attractive price is going to win it a lot of fans. As for me personally I like the Eheim better but I also have a few FX5's for tanks where I can't justify the cost.
The only real winner here is us ...we have 2 great filters to choose from that both do a great job."

And remember I have TWO of the Eheim Pro 3 2080. AND I have two Emperor 400 HOB filters. I also use two Koralia 4's to move the water around in the tank as well. I do not think the filtration is the issue at this point. My water is usually crystal clear. This is a different issue.

Okay okay, well that still doesnt explain why you dont have enough bb to filter your tank properly. what are your nitrates at?

Did you clean out anything in your tank recently?

Why would you post for help if you seem to know all the answers?? First of all, it doesn't matter what filter you have because your problem is going to be nitrates. Second of all, if you have cloudy water, something is wrong. The first thing you always do, is test your water. I'm not trying to be a D***, just trying to help.
