I recently set up my 210 for my hystrix stingray cause its finally ready to move out of its 55 quarentine tank. I want to stock some fish with the ray but dont know what. I was thinking a festae / stingray tank but both have patental to outgrow this tank. The dementions are 6x2x28"h. I was thinking a amazon tank. Witch would be stocked with 1 rtc , 1 tsn, 1 hystrix ray, 1 small arowanna (maybe I dont really like them personally) 3 peacock bass grow outs or someother amazon native cichlids. Will this stock work ok for a few months?

P.s. I know most of these fish will iut grow this tank so dont bash me for it. It will be a grow out for the catfishes ,arowanna, and peacock bass. They will all most likely in my stingray pond once its complete.

Rtc grow to 5 feet. I personally have one and she's 2 months old at 11 inches. ( got her at 3) tank would last maybe 6 months

Tsn also get huge. I personally have a tsnxredtail hybrid he grows about as fast as the red tail.

I'd go with a redtail and tsn and a peacock!

I would stay away from south or central american cichlids for the most part. They like to beat up tankmates and one bite could blind your ray. Here is the ultimate problem. No matter what there is a chance your ray will get spooked one day and dart one of your fish. I have had success with frontosas, good for a year then the rays started taking out 6 inch plus specimens and eating them despite being very well fed. Peacock bass, great for 2 years then got darted and died 14 hours later(17 inch broko). Had a 24 inch royal clown knife, darted and died 12 hours later. Had a silver arowana that got to 30 inches before I sold it to a guy with a 700 gallon. Had a 17 inch tigrinus lived with them from 3 inches when they were all babies, darted and did the death roll for three and a half weeks before he died( a real fighter there). The best I have found long term is a big school of tinfoil barbs. Grow fast, active, eat stingray poop which will get bigger and bigger trust me, an when they get taken out your only losing a couple of bucks. Rays make great ray tankmates too don't forget.

I had a rtc a month ago it grew 2" in a week. Sadly it didnt make it out pf quarentine.

Well once my pond\tank is complete it will be either 8x10' or a 10x10' so thays way more then enough room for all those fish to grow to their maxium sizes.

Its in its with a 3" green terror. The ray both it more then any thing. I know they can be lethal . It killed a 10.5" midevil for trying to eat its eye. Yours must have been troopers cause the midevil died with in 2 hours. Might have been cause of were it got stung. It was about a millimeter under its eyes.

Awesome just be willing to restock when they are eaten. There is an exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium that has a large castexi in with at least 10,000 tetras. It looks awesome, but I am sure they are slowly picked off. A tank much bigger than most of us will ever have helps too.

YOU just scared me from buying my motoro stingray tomorrow. With the exception of the frontosa (which I also plan to buy), I have all those fishes in my tank. Seems, I'll have a different resident tomorrow.
