Red cherry shrimp and Red crabs. RCS don't rely on hosts, and I have yet to find a juvenile crab...they may need brackish water.
And no, no correlation, I've always kept them together.
But good thinking, please keep up the help in troubleshooting!

My local pet store doesn't have Tetra, I ordered online (the joys if Amazon Prime). Stay tuned...

Thats a pretty sweet cohabitation , any casualties at all ? My pigs would be snacking all day , cant keep anything with them small or large .

I had to keep trying until the pirayas were big enough, I think ~10'', when they stopped eating more than the colony could sustain losing. Now they're too small of a snack. I am sure the occasional shrimp/endler guppy still gets eaten, but they reproduce like crazy.

As for the crabs, I have to get a new batch every couple of years. But for the most part, they hide in plants and sit on my cork bark, only venture out for cleaning. Just like my spotted raphaels..

I suppose if i would of started something like that from the begining it would work like yours and many im sure , if anything moves in this tank they'er swallowing it . Yeah it would be like Snack Pack heaven for these guys LOL ! Good luck with the meds when you get em !

... I dosed Thu night, lost the fish yesterday :(

Three left.

I isolated one more Piraya on Fri because of sores on the back and cloudy eye. Being treated with parasite guard as last attempt. Actually, that med also contains antibiotics. BTW: On a previous fish I tried melafix & pimafix combo, without success. Also tried salt. And, as stated before, Metro+ antibiotic.
The aquarium gods only know what my fish are dieing of :(

Two left in the big tank...

I'd almost goes as far to say possible slow leaching contamination, maybe a piece of decor isn't aquarium safe? With all ur params always in check and no introduction or parasites or desease that would be my best guess. Id break down the tank and clean everything, it could be gas trapped in the substrate slowly killing them as well.

Sorry to hear that what a bummer , are the sores on the back fungal or bacteria ? If it's fungal Jungle has a product called Bionox , works good i just dont know if you could use it with the Parasite Gaurd together . Check into it iv'e had good luck with both it might be the perfect one two punch! Also as F1vet suggested you might want to consider breaking the tank down and starting again. :(

Well I know hith is normally from bad water quality for long periods of time. Maybe a stronger filtration system or their diet. Because they tend to eat mostly meat and fish so they may have given them hith? From a bad meal or something? Idk just s theory
