My outdoor pond plan. Will it work?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
3 feet deep in combination with a deicer of some sort should be fine for overwintering depending on how cold it gets. These last couple years have been pretty mild. In the past when winters have been harsher I've lost fish in a 1300 gallon 3.5' deep pond that had a deicer. Got cold enough that the ice broke the deicer.

Not sure on the regulations, those are something that would likely differ by town/city/county/etc.

ya cuz I heard that you need permission to build a pond plus you'll also need a fence. I'll make one out of chicken wire lol. what fish do you keep in in ur pond?

did you lose all ur fish when the winters were harsh or only your smaller fish? what fish do you keep right now?

5 feet deep ATLEAST or they will freeze up... Im only 2 hours south of toronto and I need them that deep... Unless you have tanks to put them in in the winter.

Also it is ILLEGAL to transport live fish... No idea how you would get thies without breaking the law lol... Im sure no one would catch you tho... A bunch of my friends have native tanks full of fish they caught themselfs.

my buddys pond is 5 ft by 8 ft by 8 ft...

Well if your backyard is fenced in there is really nothing to worry about, your primary issue would be small children falling in, but in that case, you can make a large basicically a wall frame with studs and put some handles on it , and chicken wire the top , it also would keep out predators and cats at night.

u sure bro?? so the pond will be rock solid?? My ponds going to be around 6 by 5 feet and 3 feet deep. So a deicer is no help?? Now i'm scared aha.

jeez IMO laws are getting dumber and dumber these days. snakeheads and then the ban of keeping native fish.
