its the local fish and game... Your allowed to KEEP them as far as I know but TRANSPORTING isnt allowed... I mean if you catch a crayfish and want to use it as bait you are ONLY allowed to use it from the pond, river, lake you caught it in... Yeah idn... They are silly laws lol. As far as the freezing goes with my buddys pond... We can skate on it in the winter so im positive it freezes THICK lol.

does your friend's pondhave a deicer?? is his pond right in the open where it is exposed to the direct cold or is it shielded by something on one side.

For my pond, it going to be ALMOST under my deck so a part of th pond is going to be shielded. is that any help?

I right now have two 2 inch lmb that i plan to raise into monsters. one developped that weird injry in it's mouth.....check my new thread in the natives cold water species forum ASAP.
