EMERGENCY FH all messed up...

Did you ever add epsom salt to the tank? I could see it being constipation and not being dropsy but she isn't looking good. If she somehow pulls through the fins should grow back for the most part.

after finally seeing pictures, it was beat to ****. Doesn't look like dropsy. This happened when my female snuck onto the male side of the tank and got ripped a new *******. I found her later tucked into a crevice between driftwood. Had same issues as you're having with swimming upright and ended up dying due to almost her whole tail missing.

This blows... I did add the salt and med's. she is a trooper, she has been keeping herself pinned between things in the tank, to keep still although i have tried to pin her upright, she wont stay, she will wiggle out of it. My main concern is her not eating. i try to feed her bits of flakes, but i don't think she is really eating them much. FHLOV- her tail is missing, is it possible to grow back? I have seen my Angels fin down to nub and grow back, so i am hoping that hers will too... I have been doing water changes each day and re adding salt and new pouch of meds as directed... on a side note, Chris, I like your pikachu.

thats pretty serious dude...
in time , sure the tail would grow back..
bloated stomach.. maybe intestinal infection ? did u feed live feeders ?
what colour is her poo? if its normal brown in colour , u have nothing to worry abt..
but if its white and stringy like mucus stucked to the anal vent.
stop feeding and find med for white poo disease..

good luck bro

ROFL, im not a bro :) and yeah kinda string poo, not so white, but since she is upside down, i figured she couldn't release poo as well as right-side up... Her tummy really isnt as bloated as it looks. She is a very short bodied flower-horn and it is more the shape of her body that makes it look swollen. All of my other fish are nice and healthy, so I am thinking that it was a bully incident rather than a disease at this point. I really don't want to lose her. She was actually the coolest color prior to this and cost me 40 bucks... I am going to try to get her through this, but do need to know, if she does live, will she be healthy? or am I torturing her by keeping her alive? She does not act frantic or freak out, she just swims around upside down at the top of tank. just not sure about the quality of life she will have or pain she is in currently.

You said salt, it was Epsom salt right? Regular salt is different. I wouldn't be worried about the injuries too much, I had a Flowerhorn got beat up and it cleared up.

The growth of everything will be fine, it's getting past the first thing, which is stress and trauma damage to the fish. If the fish survives, it should recover fine. Like others have suggested, clean water, epsom salt, and I would honestly start using melafix as well. You don't want your fish to die from secondary infection due to damage. If it's still kicking at this point, still has a chance in my book.

your attachments are showing as invalid Chris. Yes I am using epsom salt, I used 5 tablespoons for 10 gallons, should i up the dose or is that ok?
