Dear Forum, its been 2 months since my last update....50 cms vip red

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
come on, you were **** stirring!!!

You're right to, the red light really are just faking the funk. Brutis is a great looking fish, regardless of the kind of lighting he's under...

haha
ok, sort of i was stirring.
but i legitimately felt frustrated that all the pictures were , well 99% of the pictures were 'red light pics'
its anoying cos i actually want to see the readl colour development, naturally. tanning is fine, but when the tanning light is gone which is usually red light anyways, you see the real deal.

not really trying to ring my own bell as such, just wanted to see the real colours.

i think i stepped over the line when i criticised one of the keepers who happened to be part of 'the family' haha

Some of those people in Asia have naturally RED, not orange colored SR without those artificial red lights. Those are high quality and expensive Reds. BUT back to your Red, it looks good.

I totally believe it!
i dont disagree, i just wanted to see them naturally.
the really expensive reds or showcased to be very red probably spent some time in the sun or tanned.
or genetic freaks that are blood red, crimson.

but, i would say 90% or even more are not BLOOD red, as such.
regardless, i just really like them under natural light, cos the fish generally has striking colouration, even greens i apprecaite, yellow tail too (banjar)
my future aro comm will have banjar and green in it, they are all quite cool!

i jsut hate the red light, i seen some silvers under red light, and it looks bright red! the red light makes ANYTHING look red lol
i could probably get my yellow *** red with that light!:D

Most people use that light to tan. They like to make their fish look "red". Nothing wrong with it. Most Reds around are from orange to reddish orange in color but not 90% haha. That's too many! Usually the BLOOD red colored ones are pretty old over 7 years. Most of the ones you seen on AF are within the range of 1-5 years.

why dont you see many fish that old on forum?

A lot of the Aro keepers with old Aros don't go on the forums. :D They are too old school or busy. But there's a good amount of a 7+ year old Asian Aros on there. You don't really see many old Aros anywhere though.

its a sh ame, it would be good to see older arowanas on the forum.
I also think that many arowanas live short lives in most cases.
most of the aros posted on the forum are young, im sure many of thsoe users have been members for ages, why not post older fish photos?
anyways, doesnt matter, im not a member an ymore anyways, so dont really care haha

I know a lot of those people trade their big Aros to farms and get smaller ones in return. :)

I think that alot of the keepers in asia like the red lights they found a better way to make fish color stand out instead of drugs like hormones. The guy who came up with the tanning lights is making a killing off of the guys who want to or think they have to tan the fish I would rather see a fish in natural light.

Yeah, the tanning light in principle is different.
the tanning light utilises UV and UVB to tan the fish.
some of the lights may not even actually put out any UVB and at all. just colour.
reptile lights are in theory the best to use.

but yes i know what you mean, preference i guess. but its annoying seeing a tank, so red that even the bubbles are bright pink, how can you appreciate a fish in that light?
