Yeah, I can't believe it either!! The shipping was done very well and he was super active as soon as he hit the tank water. He was definitely starved because the shipping water was very clear still and he hasn't eaten a whole lot since I got him (I feed mainly pellets and various frozen fish - Shawn was feeding market shrimp and nightcrawlers).

Hoping to see some nice king pups in the near future... although, the parents' markings aren't a guarantee that will happen.

Good find, Anders! He does seem a bit blacker than my other henlei, so it's very possible that he has some leo blood in him. Either way, I was looking for the king markings, so I am very happy with him and his swag LOL!!

who cares, and who really knows what they are... I'm sure his original comment was nothing but a guess anyway.

I think you are correct.

Shawn L claims the male to be a Leo x henlei in this post:

Hi Anders, great to see this post ... the pattern is just not typical for a pure blood henlei, he is too dark and the spots are unusual

I care, there are too much hybrids around these days which are labeled as pure blood rays. If all hybrid-breeders do so, we'll end up in an ansolute mess.

true, but the problem is where these rays come from "thailand, asia" no one knows what they"really" are. so by shawn saying it was leo/hen, it was his guess.

in my opinion, this was a good guess, this ray just looks like a leo/hen hybrid. btw: did shawn label him as a hybrid or did he sell him as a king henlei?

the problem is not only caused in asia, hybrid rays are labeled as pure blood all around the world. i just saw some bdxp14 posted as "special bds" on a webpage here in europe. the price was just incredible for hybrids, this is not fair!
