You should feel free to expose your children to whatever risks you deem acceptable, but this particular thread is about pit bulls. From information available on the site I posted it would seem that their reputation is justified by the facts. To challenge the facts might be a bit more useful.

David, I'm truly sorry you had to give up the puppy. Whether she was a pit or not really doesn't matter to me. I'm SO tired of people blaming aggressiveness solely on the dogs. What about the people who abused them so badly that they have no trust in us? What about the idiots who actually TRAIN their dogs to attack, then dump them at the pound for little Suzie to get attacked by? The bottom line is that people need to be more careful about the dogs they chose for their families. I personally adore any of the bully breeds. In fact my dog is a pitbull/border collie/mutt thing and is the absolute best dog in the world. I got him from a shelter in VT before I even had kids. He had been there for months simply because no one wanted a scary pit bull! Does this look like a scary pitbull to you??

i totally agree with sandy i think its bull**** how my landlord was ready to evict us cause she was a pit but when i mentioned the neighbors having dogs it was fine. i dont see any difference from a pit compared to any other dog. i ve been around your dog never would thought it was a pit. i just dont understand how people work sometimes. cause one of the maintance workers seen me with and told me its was amazing how i could just walk down the street and the dog would fallow me. obviously if i had that much faith in her she was a very good puppy. does she look like a mean pit bull to you?
Hello; Interesting response. I ask you the same question as I did to another member who responded to my post. Have you checked out the site? Have you studied any of information presented? Unlike the several threads that show up on this forum from time to time where we banter back and forth with our preconceived opinions, this site presents numbers and what appear to be credible reports. What have you found false in their reports?
We each are entitled to hold any opinion we wish, but we do not (perhaps I should say; should not) get to dismiss facts.
Hello; Here is a link to one of the reports on the dog bite site. In this report they say that in a period from 2006 to 2008 pit bulls alone were responsible for 59% of all fatal dog attacks.

to be honest no i havent and will never read it. ive heard about the reports and seen some attacks first hand. like one of the old posts said dogs wont just attack for no reason. so all those accounts of attacks were triggered by the human some how.just cause the reports seem accountable doesn't mean they actually are. so forget the facts and opinoins dont dismiss the truth. i have a question for you. have you personally ever owned a pitbull?
Here is a pic of my 3 yr old nephew an my 3 yr old female pit. I don't really think that's aggression I see on her face or scared face of my nephew. Plus the other in the pic is a 12 yr old female that wouldn't hurt a fly. Protective?? you better believe they are of me and any of my family/friends 
its sad how the bully breed is frowned on because ignorant peoples mistakes. i wish there was a way to pull the blind fold from the worlds eyes cause this government has people brain washed. its like this whole obesity thing and how some states are banning soda and other "unhealthy" drinks. the way i see it as if we are so called free country why are there so many laws to abide by. all because politicians sit and make up loads of crap us average people ahve to live by while they do whatever they want and get rich off of our hard work.
