Gold severums (actually, all severums) have orange or red anal fins. This is typical. It is also typical for male golds to develop orange or red lines on their face and body as they grow. Here is a video of my super reds when I got them at 2":

Even at a small size they already had the spotting/striation on the face and body.

Nice video. The lines on my sevs tail are much darker than they appear in the pic but not even close to the red on yours. But then again they haven't reached 2 inches yet so il have to see... thank you for the help and I will keep posting pictures as they grow

Nice video... That one little guy is going to wear himself out chasing everything in the tank!

The nitrates in my tank were getting way out of control. Water changes and added bacteria didn't help. I decided to throw them in with my stingray because his water conditions were perfect. Maybe they weren't getting their color because of stress due to water quality? (other than nitrates it was fine). Ayways they are big enough not to get eaten so hopefully they like the bigger tank ad better water. They've been in for about 20 minutes now and they look good so far.

if you are talking about gills and thrills in chicagoland area. i can tell you there is alot of mislabling and mis-selling of golds that show alot of red, compared to an actual super red, they are all mixed up and it is complicated now, everyone thinks they have super reds, and waiting for them to color up..

Yeah I would say you have regular golds here one of my grow outs that turned out to be male and you can see the red coming in on him but still just a regular gold ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1346718053.403191.jpg

I'm just curious how you know that gills and thrills mislabeles. Have you purchased 'super red severums' from them before? Just wondering not trying to shut u down or anything. Because they have recently been purchased by a new owner and the place is a lot nicer than before.
Also, since I moved the sevs into my other tank they have had a drastic color change. The biggest one is much much darker than before. I don't have a camera right now but as soon as I can get a hold of the camera I used before il take a pic of him.
