  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the jag and festae? yea lol

:WTF: Festae, Jags and Dovii that poor little Firemouth.... Firemouths tend to thrive if they're in a tank where they can be dominant and not get attacked and bet up...... :rip :goldfish: :rip

I wouldn't be surprised if it was; his firemouths were absolutely gorgeous!

I checked out Mr. Firemouth and he last posted on this site in 2010 so I wonder where his latest fish are on show... The pics of his Firemouths on this site and the others I've seen show normal looking FMs... nothing like the Super Red pictured above.

I think Mr. Firemouth was working more towards blue colors shwoing more , and also hoping to get an albino strain going as well . I tinhk his FM were awesome looking though .
If you want higer red colors why not jsut get some F1 or TR of the Rio Subin or Rio Grijalva strains ....gonna be hard to beat the red on those guys
Thanks
Tim

Definitely. They're like Oscars in this respect.

Are there any pics of these Firemouths?? as I have absolutely no idea what these look like.

In my opinion meeki look best when they show both strong red, and blue. I also like a nice light grey on them, so you can see the darker grey stripes.

I want to comment about the meeki being kept in a tank where they are the dominant fish. I have always kept mine with super "aggresive" fish. And they have always held their own. They are currently male 6.5ish" and female 5ish". And are in with a trio of VERY out going chuco micropthalmus. With the dom male micro being 10" and the females being 8" and 7". Although the meeki do not rule the tank, the micros definitly don't go out of the way to pick a fight. The bond between my pair is amazing. And they really know how to work together to fight off challengers. I really like seeing two breeding pairs of fish in every tank I have. And some of the counter pairs to my meeki have been; managuense, salvini, cutteri, green terrors, convicts, lyonsi, and seiboldii. There are some pretty heavy hitters in that list. But the meeki were fine. I think its just space. 6' tanks minimum for me to keep two pairs.

I just watched my meeki for about an hour yesterday. It was so strange how these 2 fish have been in my house for longer then 2 of my children, and yet I'm still so fascinated by them. Awesome fish. :)
