Project "SRF" The quest for FIREMOUTH perfection

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah thats the thing... The parents are only a starting point but with good feeding the young will be so much better - larger and stronger and more colorful.

What a great thread. I thought I was the only one who thought of FMs with an awe usually reserved for Dovii. fish_n_vw is right about them not reaching their potential until 3 years or so. This guy was pale & timid when he was one. He's just over three now. He has more character than many people, not always in a good way.

I love how he'll repeatedly test fish several times his size to see if they're impressed with the puffer effect. My JD remains unconvinced.

Keep the faith, Cyberman. Firemouths forever!

There used to be a guy "mr. Firemouth" on this forum or it might have been another. He had been selective breeding a line of firemouths for 7 years. They were beautiful. Does anyone remember him?

Yeah I heard that aswell... I'd like to hear from him and see his fish

Heres the fry at the moment.... feeding well on bloodworms.

These are sweet. I have FMs that breed every month. I have to be pretty quick about separating them or the parents will eat the fry when new eggs are laid. What other fish are in the tank?

Theres just the fry and the parents in there at the moment but I'm considering removing the parents soon as the fry are actually biting their fins.

Could this be one of his Firemouths? This is what I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!
