bio classes unethical treatment of fish

It seems like you already knew what to do before you started this thread. You said they're your friends. You could just talk to them about your plan, and talk them out of their plan!

I don't believe it is that simple. it is a great project idea that I believe is mistreating fish and possibly putting other fish in harms way if the releases them. I know the other bio teacher refuses to do this project because he was a marine biologist and is against catching and keeping these natives(he has told me this before) because of the legality issua at hand

How can it's not be that simple? You want them for you pond, after they're done with the project. You know your friends plan to realease them. You already know the bio teacher against catching and keeping natives. Why would you want to bring him in the equation? Just talk to your friends!

if you look at this tank, it is covered in skateboard stickers and green algae. there is no way it could be an eco system do to the lack of small organisms to keep the tank self sustaining. i'm wondering what they are even feeding these fish.
Sounds like a good start to me... Dark tank, with green algea, just like a lake... Lack of small organism? What do you think algae is?

Sorry. I meant like shrimp and crayfish or a supply of forage fish. Also I think that they should have at least chosen different fish if they weren't going to include a filter.

for one its wrong to keep animals against there own will, 2 snitch on the professor since he stole fish and should go to jail for stealing and torturing fish.
