Weight Gain Strategies

Ignore trying to gain weight, eat well, eat alot and work hard. It will come.

Good advice, the last thing you should focus on is the scale. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week, and always at the same time of the same day after similar eating habits. Just drinking a glass or two of water an hour before weighing yourself will move the scale so if you really want to be accurate the routine must be the same. Your weight isn't even a great indicator of the muscle that you're gaining because you will be losing fat as well. What you really want is a flexible tape measure so you can record all your measurements now and then again on a regular basis. You will find times where the scale will drop but your legs, arms, and chest will grow while your waist will shrink. Before and after pics of your definition will also help you track your progress. The scale is only one unit of measurement and it can lie to you.

The only reason the weight is so important to me is there is an open spot for varsity at 160 lbs for wrestling and I currently weight around 150 pounds. I'm not trying to gain weight to impress girls or look good. I want it for my sport. Thank you all for all of your replies. I appreciate them greatly and will use all of your tips.

Try playing water polo, I dropped 20lbs in 2 weeks an then put on 25lbs of muscles 3 weeks later. But that is from working out 6-7hrs a day, almost everyday.

u gained weight, not 25lbs of pure muscle. those 25lbs u gain was combination of fat and muscle. but not pure 25lbs of muscle. especially if you're working out 6-7 hours a day assuming thats from swimming cuz lifting weight that many hours a day is over training. u gain by eating not working out. swimming is mostly cardio. it burns a lot of calories. to gain, you must eat way more then the amount of calories you burn. people dont realize how truely hard to gain pure muscle.

Different people weigh different amounts, you have light weight fighters that are muscley as hell but have short body size. its also not about the weight because some peoples muscles will be heavier than others as it's in the genes, same asmuscle size and shape.

so what is your goal? to look good? cause if you want to look good you just keep working out and eating a good diet. if your goal is to hit a certain weight or become a proffesional body builder than by all means you should take all the suppliments and have a harsh diet plan etc.

everyone in prison gains muscle eating grade Z crap. all the diet does is HELP. you will gain muscle regardless if you are working out enough.
Building your body up takes a long time and it's a long term commitment if you want to maintain it in show quality. if youre literally just talking about getting into shape so you can tell people you are an abercrombie and fitch model than obviously an aggressive diet and workout schedule aren't needed. Models are supposed to be toned and muscular, but not look like a body builder.

what exactly are your goals? be more specific and I'm sure someone can help you, I mean one of the guys a page back has done proffessional shows so I'm sure if you were looking to be a bodybuilder he could give you all the answers.

I work out every day at home with various weights and exercises, I'm just trying to improve myself I have no specific goal. Bear this in mind though....
a 5' 6" muscley guy could weigh the same as a 6' 4" "skinny" guy. if its the look youre going for then your own personal weight effects it.

I'm not going for looks but rather for a wrestling weight class. I might just have to stick to the lower weight class
