Those are not comparable to the current format as any "championship" before the start of the Super Bowl in 1966 (and the NFL/AFL merger that went with that) would just be equivalent to winning the NFC or AFC today.

Mark Sanchez also got to the AFC Championship as a rookie starting QB. The Jets were not a "far superior" team. Chances are slim that the Skins could win the Superbowl, but there is a surprise team every year. Remember the Rams with a 4-12 record the previous season and a grocery clerk who's NFL experience to that point was 4 of 11 pass attempts for 39 yards and a 47.2 QB rating. Went 13-3 and were SB champions.
They looked damn good against the saints though, the skins will contend for that division this year.
then why do they keep records of all the nfl championships, going back to the 30's.Besides the fact that you could use any example for discussion purposes or argument sakes. There are no rules for that. Those years did count to the people that played then, why not now....so you say it can not happen, because it hasn't happened since sometime before the merger. That's your stance.nothing to do with how good the team or other teams may or may not be,or the player in ? It's,it hasn't happened in a long time so no way in this day and age...but yet history does have a way of repeating itself so work on that stance.
No winning the "NFL" championship was the same as winning the SB today. The AFL(and it's championship)was irrelevant for the first 7-8 years of it's existence, basically a bunch of expansion teams. The NFL was established pro football teams, the NFL champions were the best football team there was.
I'm not saying that they don't count, but I am saying that the "Championship" then is different from the most commonly accepted "Championship" now.
So those teams AFL championships mean nothing?
yeah right-good advice! It's a fine line.If it escalates, they could close the thread
