NO is washed up.... Bottom line

Those are not comparable to the current format as any "championship" before the start of the Super Bowl in 1966 (and the NFL/AFL merger that went with that) would just be equivalent to winning the NFC or AFC today.

then why do they keep records of all the nfl championships, going back to the 30's.Besides the fact that you could use any example for discussion purposes or argument sakes. There are no rules for that. Those years did count to the people that played then, why not now....so you say it can not happen, because it hasn't happened since sometime before the merger. That's your stance.nothing to do with how good the team or other teams may or may not be,or the player in ? It's,it hasn't happened in a long time so no way in this day and age...but yet history does have a way of repeating itself so work on that stance.

No winning the "NFL" championship was the same as winning the SB today. The AFL(and it's championship)was irrelevant for the first 7-8 years of it's existence, basically a bunch of expansion teams. The NFL was established pro football teams, the NFL champions were the best football team there was.

Mark Sanchez also got to the AFC Championship as a rookie starting QB. The Jets were not a "far superior" team. Chances are slim that the Skins could win the Superbowl, but there is a surprise team every year. Remember the Rams with a 4-12 record the previous season and a grocery clerk who's NFL experience to that point was 4 of 11 pass attempts for 39 yards and a 47.2 QB rating. Went 13-3 and were SB champions.

They looked damn good against the saints though, the skins will contend for that division this year.

That's why they play the games!
what about superbowl 22? nobody saw that comin.what about last year, again? just about anything could happen.Tom brady -they said he wasn't good enough!

I'm not saying that they don't count, but I am saying that the "Championship" then is different from the most commonly accepted "Championship" now.

So those teams AFL championships mean nothing?

I'm sure they meant something to the AFL teams, but they were still a few years away from competing on the NFL level. So NFL Champions prior to the creation of the SB were undoubtably the best FB teams in the world.

the original ? was- is it possible for a rookie qb to win the championship? The answer is-not likely, but it did happen at least once before.'37 i think....and your gonna love this part.It was the redskins, and the qb came from the state of Tx.Sammy Baugh came in and lit the whole league up.

yeah right-good advice! It's a fine line.If it escalates, they could close the thread
