Anyone know of anyways to make them look more "natural" besides covering them with silicon and substrate. I love that theyre cheap and cichlids love breeding in them but I hate how they stick out like a sore thumb.

Spray them with pond foam and then carve into natural looking shapes. Dont forget to cover the openings a little so you can carve them into irregular shapes. After you carve the foam, you can silicone them and roll them in sand or gravel etc. I think it would look best if you spaced them somewhat randomly.

Paint black and bury in stones.

Anyone want to share some pics?!

Torch em!
Seriously. When you burn white pvc it bubbles and turns all shades of brown and black. With the PVC hot and bubbly, roll it in the same substrate it will be going in and it will stick to the melted PVC. I have done it and it works awesome. Just wear protective gear like gloves and goggles. You have to get that PVC bubbling. Use a torch, take your time and you will like the results
