Just a caution to all those out there with piranhas or teeth bearing fish....luckily he slipped out right when he was in the bucket so no harm done lol, but he could have escaped and easily latched on to my ARM! I wore oven mits just incase Lmao.

Thats why i use two nets when im netting my piranhas. Just snatch him with one, lift him out with the second below it.

REMEMBER: DO NOT TRY TO CATCH A PIRANHA THAT FALLS OUT OF A NET OR BUCKET. Let him fall. Just scoop him off the ground afterwards.

That's why I don't net piranhas

That's a good idea, I always cover the net when moving so they cant flop out.

Sometimes you have no choice when moving, but it went perfect other then that, I net them then I have a 5 gal bucket halfway filled with existing aquarium water then I stick the net and them in the bucket, run downstairs and place them in the new tank. My shoal is just aggressive, they don't like being messed with!

how aggressive are those guys?

Well they won't mess with me in the tank, but take em out of water you better watch yourself, hence the oven mits lol.....

They aren't really aggressive towards eachother anymore but they used to be, they will randomly chomp airlines and plants and sometimes suction cups, I love these guys, my fav fish!

The best way IME is to drain the tank water down to 6-8" and lay a bucket sideways and use a net to kinda herd the fish into the bucket. Then just pull the bucket out. Way less stressful for fish and owner.
