With all those monster tanks you're storing in the basement, you're going to need it! Are you opening a store?

No, they came from my friends store. Just gonna have some fun breeding , and enjoying the hobby, maybe turn it into a tax write off:D

I was a little discouraged that I couldn't fit the 2 750 gal vats into my basement. Were part of his filtration system at the store, they fed into giant 10' fluidized beds

You can go along months even years possably when something hits your tank that the fish are not used to then you have a problem !!! That's why i use them on my tanks let's hear some other opinions ????

I used to run UV when I had a school of 30 good sized Clown Loaches, and when I did I never had any whitespot issues. Water was always clean and warm thought and I quarantined religiously.

cigars how is that glass filter going, set up yet? Nice looking 180sx (240?) too!

The Wife and I have been discussing the big tank today, settled on 260-280x100x70cm (length will depend on how the plumbing is done), and she is encouraging me to go for the glass filter despite the cost!! A sump is going to take up a heap of room in the garage, where the glass filter could easily be plumbed through the external wall and housed in a well insulated box outside which would give us a bit more space in the garage (going to be pushing it to get both cars in there with the sump). Hulon I'll flick you a PM now to get more info on them.

Man its been hectic here in my house my daughters caught a bug the three year old is just getting better, I did start plumbing the filter mind you the aquarium is in my garage so its not going to look pretty just functional its not a display tank (just for me LOL). I really was trying to save up for a 58watt uv sterilizer from wlim but christmas is coming so funds will be going to child happiness daddy's hobby will have to wait. But I can always add the sterilizer later. I bought some ball valves to add in for servicing the pump but realized the 1.5" ball valve bottle necks down to 1" I didnt want to restrict flow so I just went today to home depot and bought a 2" ball valve that bottle necks to 1.5" with couplers to step it back down to fit and match the 1.5" piping. So getting closer to getting it up and running.

Yeah thats my other expensinve hobby, sometimes its hard to choose fish or cars LOL I have the 92 240sx with full jdm 180sx kouki body kit sr20det etc, 70 chevy nova fully restored, 96 cherokee 6.5inch long arm lift kit 33" super swampers, 96 nissan 200sx turbo'd 300+hp fast front wheel drive car.

I gave up on the car thing a while back for the sake of being able to afford a house (which meant I could expand the fish hobby!). Had an EG6 civic with B18CR etc, and was at the point where I was ready to blow another $10k+ on upgrading suspension and brakes, good exhaust and tune and a respray and I decided it already owed me over double what it was worth so it was time to let it go...

Having sick kids suck, I don't have any [kids] but have a 1y.o niece with cancer and it must be hell. Hopefully you can get the filter set up soon, pretty keen to see how it goes!

I initially got a 40 W UV sterilizer for my 300 gallon tank because we had a green water problem with floor-to-ceiling picture windows and skylights in the living room. The UV sterilizer worked so well, it's made me a believer. Going with 240 W on my big system which is not set up yet.

40watt on my 155 uploadfromtaptalk1350232724716.jpguploadfromtaptalk1350233207323.jpguploadfromtaptalk1350233259547.jpg

Looking for some advice from the pros and more info on the glass filter. I'm trying to put some cash together for some heavy duty filtration to be used for mult tanks. Starting with about 750 gal of tanks, but have about 3x as many tanks and not sure how many will be expanded into the system. Looking for any suggestions , closed system is definatley sounding good but I'm not dead set on it. I was thinking large vat with filter socks }glass or ultima}uv}tanks, may incorperate aquaponics but only for additional filtration. I want this system to be extremely efficient, ans easily serviceable but capable of handeling the bio load from many large well fed cichlids........who will be my Huckleberry ;) my ears to the ground.
