On my 120g, i use the Rena Filstar XP4 (think that's the model), and works great. But also use it along with my wet/dry sump. As for the Rena, best bang for the buck IMO. Great flow, and easy to clean.

holy good god the price on one of those

But you get what you pay for with it.

To the op I would go with the combo and use the aquatop for bio. The uv on it helps out a lot also.

If bio filtration what you after, go wet/dry. with canister filters, the bio media always submerged in water. Bacteria thrives much better when gets a lil air

ive got a 130g tank and have one fx5 for it, and just got another fx5 to filter it as well :) i also have made a 62" long spray bar for it and it works great for water flow in my tank :)

so i say go with 2 fx5's lol you want over filteration ther eya go, all depends what ya wanna keep in it too of coarse

I just got a used fx5, I think ill ditch my two ac110 and keep my xp3 running since my uv filter is hooked on it and replace the two ac110s with the fx5. I got my fx5 for 140 with media, just missing the rim connector and thinking about making spray bar. Good luck..
