So I recently snatched up this lil fella maybe 3 weeks ago. Since then it's really started to show some deep colors and almost look like it has a Blue gene Dempsey and or Titanium Blue FH tint to it.

I have a Wild Female 8" Trimac who is a beaut. And while wild caught, and looks a little different; she doesn't not have that metallic looking color/texture.

This new small Trimac was gotten from the same guy/place I frequent. He wouldn't knowingly pawn off a hybrid on me, and he knows I know my cichlids relatively well.

So what's the opinion out there? Is it just the fish showing some unique color with the subdued tank lights? Or do I have my hands on a weird cross?

My hopes are to grow this (hopeful male out) and mate him with the Boss...

No way thats a true trimac. Its hard to base on appearance alone but if theres any question and they look like that to me you cant breed him as a true trimac. Gotta have some flowerhorn in there.

There shouldn't be any blue in the face if its a Trimac.

What type of lighting is over the tank she's in? Is she in the same tank as the male? It looks like reef lighing heavy in the blue spectrum like a 12K or a 10K actinic combo. I'm asking because red looks muted and the blue is very strong. At any rate if you don't know for if she's a Trimac for sure it's better IMO to error on the side of caution.

The Big Female is a true wild trimac from the Rio Camecha collection point. She is over a yr old. She will sway her colors greatly by mood; her breeding dress is crazy… And that tank runs a blue/white led strip and a t5 with 6700k / colormax spectrum

The Small Male I had my doubts about was just listed as a trimac, and until I really started feeding him good food, he didn’t show much color. He is a flower horn most likely and His tank just has a colormax spectrum running.
