Hey Gar Experts, Help-True Alligator Gar or Florida

Help Gar experts. This fish is being listed as true alligator gar. LFS has had them for about 6 months, they range from 4 to 5.5inches. No real growth that I have seen over this time period
I am betting they are being fed very sparingly.

I was looking for a florida and know that "Alligator gar" are often miss labeled.

Thoughts?

they are gator gar, and I don't know if they can even grow big after being 4-5.5'' for 6 months!

Those are alligator gars for sure. The store must not be feeding them very much in order to keep them at that small size.

Thanks all, if only I had the room to house one. My other lfs has some nice floridas but they have a nasty Ick out break at the moment and have yet to start treating them. (Bit of denial when pointed out)

well the bright sid is you can keep him till he outgrows the tank and then you can get more for him then you would for a flordagar. the good way to tell between the two is how brod and thich the head and snout is. its a nice fish tho!

Get him at a discounted price? Quarantine him and treat it yourself? Just a thought to maybe get a cheaper fish, and saving a life lol
