The guy was a great cyclist but needed that extra push to constantly win. For how many athletes are caught using illegal performer enhancers there has to be a far great deal more that aren't. You can do steroids but if you don't workout it won't help. Sure bonds did roids but you still have to have the hand eye to hit a 90 mph fast ball. I just want to see the best sports have to offer. Legal or not. And if people say it's cheating and not fair well then you can hop on the train or you can get ran the hell over.

there is very much evidence . not following the case lately ?

Yes I have. U have suspicious blood tests, payments, and allegations. These are called circumstantial. Not a whole lot more than that.

I've been keeping a very close watch on this for some time now. I have been competing in cycling for over a decade now, and should most likely test clean if they decide to test me unless they add M&Ms to the banned substance list.

Here is the deal. Whether you like him personally or not, advocate cheating or not, taking PEDs legally or not, there are some facts that can't be disputed. All the rest is speculation and individual opinion.

He was the best cyclist among many (or all) other dopers. He was maniacal about training and getting that edge.
He was great for the sport of cycling. The TDF is the biggest sporting event in the world.
He was a hero for cancer patients around the world.
Sure, he probably cheated. I think it would be interesting to think about who didn't cheat over the last two decades. Almost all the top cyclists have been found guilty of PEDs.

Instead of thinking of it as intimidation, let's think about it rationally. First off, if you were being considered for a top cycling team during this time, you were cheating. There really is no question about it. It was more like they wanted new riders to cheat their own way instead of the half assed way they were already doing it to prevent them from getting caught. It worked.

The decision you were faced with at that time was, cheat, and possibly succeed, or don't cheat, and don't even qualify for regional races, let alone win anything.

I don't advocate cheating or doping, but a cyclist at that time really had no choice if they wanted to further their career. It sucks, but that's what it was. It really still is like that now too. You telling me Contador isn't cheating now? Please.

They need to advance their testing methods to detect this stuff instead of spending millions of dollars to take down a cycling hero, whether he was clean or not.

Are they going to go this far with 2nd -150th place in each TDF now? Why not? So someone is going to inherit the win now with zero testing? Jose Pantalones from Brazil who works as a landscaper now takes the win? Where can I order my poster? lol

some decent points made here . I agree in that era they had to dope to compete , no doubt . Does that make it ok ? Naw . Let the records show it was a dirty era with no valid winner . As for the its just allegations argument , those allegations were made by all under penalty of perjury . it's a pretty airtight case against him . Like I said before I liked him and wanted to support him until just recently . Now to continue support is to bury your head in the sand

^ you're in the minority. Tons of people care about the integrity of the games

There are plenty of players who don't give a ship about the integrity of the game. They play dirty and people don't care but mention steroids or "cheating" and it's burn him at the stake. It's all in where you draw the line on cheating.
