good deal for tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my CL sometimes has deals but never on Bowl fronts, we wanted a bowl 72, but got my setup at near nothing compared to the asking of the Bowl. you have to remember most people selling tanks are not big fish people and go out to big box stores pay top price, keep it a year and think, umm still nice tank and only knock of a 100 or 2... or you get lucky and get one of those peolple say, 75 gallon free with stand, get the damn thing out of my house, like my tank I got. Most of the time it is the other. It seems your looking for a a yes to justify getting it, Just do it, offer 500, dont go past 700, walk away at 650 then maybe come back.. its all a game. IN the end it is your cash..

GOOD LUCK..

+1 ~ do the nah that's too much and walk away tactic

If you add up the cost of all items, he is selling everything for about 60% off of retail price.

Sure, you could hold out and wait for that diamond in the rough (once in a lifetime deal, that your brother's, uncles friend that knows a guy got 3 years ago)...but if it's the tank you want, you don't want to wait around forever for a good deal that may never materialize, it's in good condition and you don't want to pay full retail price for a brand new tank, then I don't see it being that bad of a deal. It's not a great deal, but I think it's fair if it's all in really good shape.

It cracks me up when I see guys post pix of the tanks they got for "free" or for "such a great deal"...and they look like a disaster waiting to happen. Paying a premium for a good condition tank is something I will gradly do.

If you don't want the extras (filters and light) shoot him an offer you would be comfortable paying for just the tank and stand. I'm all about finding a good deal, but I think you have to be realistic.

Being used and me being a budget guy, the most I would spend out of my pocket is half the asking price but that's just me. Patience is key, you'll find a great deal out there.

I bought my 72g bow front off of CLfor $125. That included tank, stand, lights, canister filter, glass tops, and a really nice piece of driftwood ( probably was $50 by itself)

i got my 400g for 350.00 on cl.

IMO its overpriced . I have found that this hobby its all in what you want and how much your willing to pay. what may be a good deal to me could be a bad deal to you. Different areas bring different prices. If you get for a price your happy with go for it.

Wow thanks for all the replies. Im going to look at the tank setup on Wednesday to see how good the condition is and all the stuff that comes with it to determine if the price is worth it. Like someone said if its premium condition and not a mess like some free tanks people post pics of maybe its worth it. After all I'm looking for show quality. Ill take better pics and let yall know.. it currently has water and fish in it so at least i know ot holds water. Always a concern when buying from cl!

Its a good deal if you want the tank. Me personally would not buy a used tank, thats just me though.Really dont like the look of bow tanks and hate the stand.I bought a used 90 gallon years ago that cracked a few days after set up. What a nightmare! Ofeer the guy $500 bucks and thats it.
