Help me with an update on the monster catfish sticky!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's awesome. His head and body look a lil different also. I'm thinking you might have something besides fasciatum!!!! ;)

Think so? You definitely have a lot more experience with big cats than I do. This is my first and only (for the time being). Trying to learn as much as I can about them.

Get pics from various angles. Do you notice any vertical white stripes at all?

Very Jealous! Wanted one for years, but could never get in touch with anyone to get one for real!
Thank you! Hope you have a grow out thread for that monster!

I plan on getting some new pics up when i get back from college lol

Got a few more pics before he decided to freak out. I don't notice any vertical white stripes.

May have to wait til it's larger before we can say for certain, but I am leaning towards Pseudoplatystoma metaense based on both pattern and the morphological characteristics of the head. That being said could also be tigrinum or magdaleniatum. Hard to say for certain, but that skinny of a body and head at over 12" along with the pattern it will be very easy once he is bigger.

always the possibility of a hybrid within the genus as well! ;) highly doubt it though.

Ok, so after a little more research I can say with certainty you have a baby P. tigrinum!!!! Pretty darn sweet!!! Not super common in the hobby. Second to fasciatum for sure. Gonna look killer as an adult!!!
