Price for zebra plecos

Not true....there is a number set that can be "wild caught" and imported to be sold each year. Once that number is met they can not be imported. Also the person bringing them in to the USA needs to have all the paperwork for them

There are lots of different plecos that you can get and they do not require a 6' tank. I have three currently and plan on picking up a few more when I get my hands on them.
 
True, there is tons of plecos that you can keep that stays pretty small and looks cool.....plecos doesnt need to cost as much as a zebra pleco to look cool...The butterfly pleco L52 is one of my all time favorite and looks similar to a L134 Leopard frog. Butterfly pleco if you get lucky, you can usually pick up for less than 15.00....the L340 as well is another nice one, and if you like something inbetween plecos and loaches....Id say pick yourself up a stingray pleco...awesome sucker.... I have kept all three in the pass...very simple to keep colorful and cost 15.00 or less at the LFS
 
I think Zebra plecos are a little overrated... just ask yourself... what are you gonna do next when you get the zebras? I myself have about 30 small ones plus the parents at the moment, at my peak, I had about 200 of them with 1 male 4 female in my colony...but honestly they're just still zebra plecos....lol...nothing really special...just my opinion...

Hit the nail on the head... has to be some 15yrs ago I got one at a LFS for i think 60$ before all the ruckus started and the prices skyrocketed.. and at that time that was alot of money for a kid to spend on a fish... at least imo.. he was a cool fish.. but.. he was still just a pleco. It's a status symbol. If they where 30$ a peice.. I'de prolly have a few because thay are pretty lil' things, but tons of other cool fish I could have for that kinda money now.
 
Most guys that get zebras appreciate them for their distinct coloration...or they have plans to breed and sell them.
