HELP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No. Sorry. But I guess that answers the question. lol. I actually haven't ventured into FW at all. I bought a friend's salt tank and am figuring that out at the moment. I have a list of FW fish I'd like to have a shot at someday and do like cichla, so I'll just shut up and pay attention. :D

BTW, best of luck to your lovelies, OP.

Bass at small age are really, I mean really sensitive to medications. So we advise to do a salt bath, high temps and more air for the bass. As for salt, you can use solar salt from wal mart, lowes, Home Depot, etc.

Also I've seen that my I'd sharks have it to there in another tank I've raised temp to 82 and put and air stone in. Should I put salt in there to or buy Meds.

82 will just make the infestation worse. 86+ will kill Ich. 82 will not.

Do a massive water change and stop feeding your fish feeders!
Good luck! :)

What kind of feeders did you use, goldfish maybe? Did you quarantine them? Pretty sure you got ich from them if you didn't quarantine them.

Goldfish aren't the best feeders out there. Stole this from the sticky here http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...-IN-THE-HEAD-THIAMINASE-What-you-need-to-know!!!!!!

1) Thiaminase
Thiaminase destroys Thiamine (Vitamin B1). Goldfish & Rosie Reds (and most cyprinidae) contain a very high level of thiaminase. Thiamine deficiency can lead to a myriad of problems including neurodegeneration, wasting and death. Tissue Distribution in many living animals is dependent on Thiamine levels. Once Thiaminase is ingested, it has very long lasting effects and does not purge itself from the body. Lack of Thiamine (Vitamin B1) is the primary reason why fish would not be able to properly produce fleshy tissue.

List of fish containing thiaminase:

There is a thread here about feeders and the nutritional content but can't find it at the moment.

I see, but it still probably gave your fish ich. Try breeding your own fish if you're still wanting live feeders.

Don't use that. It has loads of buffers and other things in it for marine fish. Use canning salt from the grocer....the non iodized stuff.
