I would be very interested to hear from anyone that has a Flower ray "male" with a 24" disc, a ray that has been grown on to this size in domestic aquaria, sure they get huge in the wild but so do Leopoldi and many other species, but flowers and Tigers get brought up more than any other species as being unsuitable. I would say most ray keepers have tanks no more than 8ftlong by 3ftWide and 2ft tall(due to the missus lol!) often they are housing the other sp mentioned but few people have issues with this.......so come on, lets hear or better still see these 2ft-3ft diameter Flowers, I have only seen such fish in tropical ponds with thousands of gallons at their disposal.
What I am getting at is this.Nobody wants to think they are stunting their charges but in reality most of us are to a degree, and in most cases its a good job they don't all grow to their full potential, where on earth would they all finish up if they all grew to massive proportions? My view is so long as these fish grow to a reasonable size.. a size where they can actively breed making wild collections a thing of the past and we can enjoy them in our homes knowing that if things turn for the worst ie Divorce etc, we can re-home them without too much trouble.

So again please post up your monster Flowers (Aquarium raised specimens only), age of a particular specimen is important too.

Nice Flower by the way.

I've never seen one older than five years captive in this forum ever? My buddie had a real big one for a very long time. Hes got a real big male tiger still . He is a member too but probably driven away also.

I have a good sized tank raised male 3 years captive this spring .and only 16" but growing like a weed in spurts only . I don't think I've ever seen a picture of a flower
Male 30" ....Most Male rays stay smaller than females .

I'd like to know who's got one that's been captive for any long term

When he settles in get us a pick of his claspers if you can. Will be interested in seeing how big they are at this size. Also, what color substrate was he on? Most flowers his size will of already turned black. Some stay lighter longer but most flowers that have settled in with no stress would of turned black by now.
