Perruno in a 180?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Marmoratus or perruno, its still a nice fish. The full grown size and care requirements for both is the same. Get it anyway! Heck I want one.

yep 10 spines = marmoratus also perruno has small spots and marmoratus has large spots also you should be able to keep marmoratus in a 180 as i've never seen one more than 25-28 in. except for in the wild

Yeah agree with what's said. The link tbtb provided should be helpfull. :)

Just got a definitive answer from the supplier of the fish in question. He went to his warehouse today and actually counted the spines in the dorsal fin and it came up to 14. So marmoratus for sure.

I think I will just stick with my search for pimelodus ornatus for my tank. It just would've been nice to have a rare perruno!

sounds like a good idea. You'd definitely be one of the very few (sure someone living around where they are has one in a tank lol) if not the only one with a true perruno if you ever came across one.

I'm not sure I understand. Both fish pictured are marmoratus.

You'd know better. All I can say that only one of mine 7 looked like the coloration/pattern on the right. Mine were all adults or sub-adults. The pic on the left is of a juvi - so no fair comparison.

I still am cluless as to the differences between the marmoratus and longibarbis... but that's for a different thread.

More to come ;)
