I wouldn't say i am addicted but everytime after i water change i am happy because i know my tank will look better in less the 1 houri do 1 50% water change on both my tanks 1 time a week. Takes about an hour and a half to do 2 135 gallon tanks with a 10 gallon bucket.

I do a water change every day if I can... on 8 tanks... at least every tank gets one a week.. if its a easy day i'll do more then one tank. and some days I skip a day and do 2 the next day! You're among tother water change addicts... and I use to be in the once every 2 weeks 20% crowd... then I tried it...
Ok, it had been about two weeksish since my last w/c (I topped off my two living room tanks over the weekend..) so i just did a 50% w/c on those two tanks to see if I was missing something.
An hour later: Water is almost back to same clarity as before, fish still look great and super active, vibrant and healthy.
What are you guys seeing that I'm not? Lol..
Again, i had a deal with Ich on my loaches a few months ago and I removed substrate (some of you have bare bottom tanks..) for easier cysts removal, and was doing a lot of w/c's because of meds, but that actually interupted my nitrogen cycle and caused spikes in ammonia/nitrates. Those little BB's can reproduce sure, but not if their population doesn't have substrate to cling to and is halved every day or two?!?
Ok, I'm done. Said my piece and I'm glad people have started agreeing that some of are you nuts. LOL.
When you say look better, does that mean your water is cloudy? What if you went two weeks and your water was still crystal clear, fish were happy and levels were all good? That's what I'm wanting to know, WHY are people going this crazy about water changes. My fish are happy before and after w/c's so I'm trying to figure out if you guys are doing something wrong, or I am.
What specific indication is leading you to say, "Dang, i need to change out half my water right now.." ?

No my water Has never been cloudy in either of my tanks. I have great filtration on both of them. Water is always crystal clear even if i didnt do anything to it for 2 weeks like i have before it is still crystal clear. But when ever the water level dips below a certain point i do a water change it is just routine for me.. Every Sunday = me doing 2 water changes and me going to the gym. It is just been my routine for 2 or 3 years now... So i am used to it.
And my fish are always running around my tank... Lol

Great looking tanks btw, I think weekly is reasonable also. More than that? I dunno.
