Don't feel dumb a lot of LFS don't know what they have most of time.

So I just googled the vieja and a Texas and I feel pretty dumb thinking this guy was a full texas all these years. I just took the LFS word that he was when I bought him. I'm looking at a couple of vieja's on youtube and comparing it to my guy and it's very close. Same color and markings and his body seems taller and thicker than a texas. Well I guess he has more than a couple of inches to go! Hopefully his nachul hump will get bigger over time. :)

Yeah LFS do that a lot, mislabeling well... absolutely everything. ><"

Lesson learnt, always google what you've got the moment you get it, just to be sure. :D

Nice looking fish

I myself would keep him as a wet pet but if you want to add some movement and have more than one fish I'd try a small shoal of Silver Dollars (5 would be good) and since he's so nicely spangled my vote would go to Spotted SD's.

Only other option as I'd see it, is to try and find a mate; just keep a divider/back up tank ready either way! Good luck.

Good advice, thanks. I will try to find him a mate or some large SD's if not, I'll keep him as a wet pet.
