My wife's grandmother gets bored from time to time and comes to my house and does laundry. I usually do not have a problem with this but I had all my filter socks in the washer and she saw them and decided to help me by washing them (even though they were already washed) with detergent.
I did not know that she washed them and changed my filter sock on my black ray tank.
Yesterday I noticed he was not eating good and checked my water parameters and everything was in check and suddenly it hit me that maw maw came and washed some clothes.
I checked and found out she did use detergent and did a 70% water change and threw away all the filter socks she washed.
Now I am just hoping he makes it and I will have to wash filter socks every day until the new ones I will order come in because I now have no extra.

Besides doing daily water changes do you guys know anything I can do?

Sorry to hear that. Hope the little guy pulls thru. If it was me I would just keep up doing large water changes. I wonder what affect the detergent had on the BB.

Im going to get my own washing machine in my basement just for washing filter socks. Very sorry to hear im sure he will make it ok. My buddy did the same thing before, there were bubbles forming in the tank and everything. All his rays made it fine

Stinkiest washing machine ever, haha. Do NOT put your clothes in there! 8P

I would drop in some activated carbon. It will absorb any chemicals/impurities that shouldn't be there. Just remember to replace or remove as it will spend rather quickly in a ray tank (high bio loads).

I would throw some prime in the water also .
