Help, rescued flowerhorn with bloat!!!!!!!!! URGENT HELP!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
mine is worse, the peaople at petsmart said it started a little while ago so now i think it is dropsy/bloat...

It wont hurt to just feed it peas. Its good for fish regardless. I thought dropsy kills within 24 hours though. If it started a long time ago (more than a week) it can't be dropsy. Try the shelled peas, its worth a shot. I personally think its constipated but I'm no expert.

it won't eat today, it is new(got is today) so I am not suprised...

I added 1 tea spoon of epsom salt yesterday... In odballs sticky said have a tea spoon for bloat and 2 tablespoons for bloat... I have read doing some research that 1 tea spoon is oaky for 10 gallons so I used 1 tea spoon... should I add more...?

Hope the FH pulls through. At least I think it's not dropsy coz my ryukins die within 3 days they have it.
Thanks, he tried to eat a pea put the peice i gave him was too big. I will get a smaller piece of a pea and feed him now...

I usually mash the peas after I cooked them for a bit. Should be as small as they can inhale them but not too small as it can cloud the water.

I cooked the peas for 2 minutes in the microwave, then i added water to them and cooked them for 2 minets, then I gave the peas a garlic bath and mashed them up into small peices and he just swollows them and spits them out... :help2: What should i do????

As much as it sucks, he's probly gonna die. I've only been able to save one fish from bloat in my 11 years of keeping fish but its only happened to me 3 times with fish that are prone to it.
