I have finally given in to the fact that my trusty Panasonic 15.6V cordless drill/driver is at the end of it's life. :cry: I've had this drill for 7+ years and have worked it like a borrowed mule. I honestly never thought it would last as long as it did, especially since I got it for free. :naughty:

Since, I am an avid DIY person, I'm on the hunt for a replacement and quick. Now, Panasonics are expensive compared to most of what's out there. I've giving consideration to buying a Makita dril/Driver combo as the replacement. I've heard a lot of good things about them and I've always known Makita to be quality equipment.

That being said, it made me wonder what everyone is using? So let's hear it. What is your go to tool for DIY projects.(doesn't hve to be a drill)
 
For a drill replacement I would point you towards the makita 18 volt li-ion drill driver or just drill. They are light weight and very good drills. They are white and black trim. I have used them for work and.everything around the house. Fit in hand very well will not make.your hand hurt just from holding it like the old dewalts . Very strong and the clutch system works very well. Can't beat the batteries and the 15 min charger too. Or look at the new dewalts they Make a nice drill also but so far having this makita for the last 7+ years has been great. Would buy again.

I have a Makita circular saw. It's a beast but never stops. For a cordless I have a 14.4 Dewalt that I have uased and abused since before the 18v came out. Actually had to get a new battery for it but still does everything I need it to.
 
I have the Makita 18v li-ion set for work and home, originally got the drill driver then got the grinder, torch, impact drill, saw etc all in same family so only need a couple batteries for everything! I wouldn't have anything else now.

Just for reference, when my Panasonic was in it's prime, it made an 18V DeWalt look stupid. One charge outlasted 2 of the 18V XRP DeWalt batteries. My dad, a cabinet maker, was astonished at the quality.

I will probably go cheap and buy the Makita 18V kit. Although, I may pay the cost and have my Panasonic batteries rebuilt.
 
Trust me once you actually use a.makita for a while you wont think.about rebuilding those batteries. No need with the advances they have made in everything. Only.complaint I have is that the bit companies make weak bits and I snap them all the time. And I have use almost every brand out there. Sure are powerful drills
