Yeah. Why doesn't the restaurant owner 'tip' his staff? They are the ones making him the money after all...right?
Yep. But this has always been a funny thing to me. Like people think you're a cheap scumbag for seeing it the way we see it

Because, for example, in CT, minimum wage is $8.25. Minimum wage for servers is $5.69. If you don't tip ( like Mr. Pink) you are taking their pay away from them... And they aren't looking to work for free for you.

Wrong again. They work for the restaurant.
It's ok if I stumped you, don't feel bad.![]()
You must not have looked at the link
They are payed (by the company) less because they are paid for their services by the customer. They are servicing you. They are paid by the restaurant for prep work, stocking tables (sugar, ketchup, etc), sweeping/ mopping, cleaning. YOU are paying to not have to get up and refill your own soda.
Please, don't think I was stumped. I know exactly what I wanted to say... I just didn't know how to tactfully comment on the insight to your character you so gracefully provided.

was just messing with you bro lol. just having fun while debating. but i know what you're saying. i just feel you're wrong. make no mistake, they don't work for me
tipping is optional. i don't get why you think it's the responsibility of the consumer to pay for the waiter's wage. it's not mandatory. and i keep saying, if they don't like it, look for work elsewhere.
i can go right now and find a job assembling clocks or something and make min wage. people who work as bartenders and waiters choose that job because the tips more than make up for the low pay. so, hey, don't cry about it if you get a bad tip. you choose to be there

My problem is the inconsistencies withe the practice of tipping. You're supposed to tip 'these guys' here, but don't tip 'those guys' they don't need or deserve it. Without repeating this entire scene, this is exactly how I feel about it:
