that look good for the filter sock sump?

I can't tell if the baffle holding the bio balls is low at the level of the bio balls or goes all the way up? It needs to go all the way up to keep the bio balls away from the intake of the pump or put some kind of screen on the pump intake. I don't think your getting how much water/turbulence is going through your sump.

Also on the filter sock side cut 1 or two 1" holes on the filter sock holder to drain water when the filter sock overflows. Keeping the water in your sump.

im buying some egg crate today for the wet dry filter so ill use some on top of the drip tray also and i got my hole saw ready... so im thinking about just drilling a 1" hole right where dxdx told me too so ill take pics when im done.

the baffle is level with the bio balls.. and i can buy like some gutter guard for the pump intake...

heres the lids i built for the wet dry filter and the sock filterImage32.jpg
am i going to need to make a new lid for the sock filter sump ?

specifically a lid with just one hole aimed right over the sock filter?

That or run that egg crate from the top of the baffle to the top of the sump. Try not to restrict the flow to the pumps intake or your going to have another problem, overflowing one of your sumps. If one side is restricted more than the other then one sump will drain and the other will overflow. Using multiple sumps is risky, one large sump is the best. But it is what it is right? You just have to be extra careful. If just one bio ball gets away from you and gets in that intake your going to overflow.

Keep it simple. you have two 1.5" drains so run each drain to each sump. So yes, a lid with just one hole right over the sock filter and one 1.5" line coming from the fish tank drain to the filter sock.
BTW: your acrylic work is very professional, I love it!

ill run the egg crate from the baffle to the top of the sump then add in some little acrylic holders so the egg crate doesnt tip...
wow haha i thought i was practically done with the sumps.. thank god i didnt just go with what i had!

LOL I learned all this by dumping hundreds of gallons of water on the floor. Check out my 450 thread I have two sumps in that monster and what a PITA to get figured out. Your getting months of hard lessons in just a few hours :) and no mess to clean up :)

haha your telling that to a 15 year old! im going to get started creating a new lid for the filter sock. also going to drill those holes so the wet/dry doesnt overflow

haha i overflowed my tank on accident early when i was leak testing it... forgot to plug up the overflow holes....
