Its a nice rivulatus, definitely not a stalsbergi. Stalsbergi arent called silver saum either they are true green terrors.

Well the last pic definitely shows pale orange in the caudal unlike the first pic. Could be a cross or just not yet showing the intense orange that the more mature 'rivulatus' does. The first pic looks quite different hence 'stalsbergi'

The beautiful Green terror cichlid sold in the aquarium hobby under the names Silver Saum, Silbersaum and White Saum has finally been described by scientists.
Previously believed a colour variant of the Green terror, Andinoacara (formerly Aequidens) rivulatus , the new species has been named Andinoacara stalsbergi by Zuzana Musilova, Ingo Schindler and Wolfgang Staeck.

A. stalsbergi, which is named after Alf Stalsberg, can be found in trans-Andean rivers and lakes along the Peruvian Pacific coastline of South America between the Rio Chira in the north and Rio Pisco in the south.

As fishkeepers have known for the past 40 years, it differs from the Green terror, Andinoacara rivulatus, in having a silvery white rather than an orange edge to the fins.

The scales of stalsbergi also have pale centres and dark margins that form a reticulate pattern on the flanks.

Here's a pic of A. stalsbergi ('silversaum'). It has a strong likeness to the first pic

Interesting read.
Ill try to get some better pics of him in the morning.
As "rare" as the stalsbergi may be, I really like the orange instead of silver in the tail :)
This is my first experience with a green terror; Ive kept so many central and south american cichlids and so far, this guy is already becoming my favorite.

Nice young green terror. IMO, he looks to be what some are now calling Andinoacara aequinoctialis, or one of the two saum colors. For me, the easiest way to identify stalsbergi is the green scales outlined by dark shades. Yours has the dark scales outlined in green (reverse of stalsbergi).

JDH, you may be on to something.

At a LFS right now, though this GT looks amazing and with potential!
What do you guys think should i grab him??

Endo, what you have is what ever you wanna call it. But we'll stick with Green Terror, I don't care which variant or species was found first...everything is sketchy anyways. But I just wanna share my lil guy, cuz I noticed similarities. Brownish color
